Rockledge is getting 100 new affordable homes. McDowell Housing Partners held an official groundbreaking ceremony on October 6, 2026 for Ekos at Rockledge Park, a $38.2 million development at 1505 Cogswell Street in Rockledge.

Rockledge Mayor Thomas J. Price, Deputy Mayor Frank T. Forester, and members of the City Council joined the ceremony, alongside representatives from the developer. The five-story residential building will hold 100 apartments reserved for households earning between 30 and 70 percent of the area median income:

  • 70 one-bedroom units
  • 25 two-bedroom units
  • 5 three-bedroom units

Floor plans range from 671 to 1,162 square feet, and every home includes a full-size stainless steel appliance package, granite countertops, modern cabinetry, luxury vinyl tile flooring, a private balcony, and washer and dryer hookups.

Fifteen percent of the homes are reserved for extremely low-income households at 30 percent of area median income, with the rest split between the 60 and 70 percent brackets. Community amenities include an internal clubhouse with on-site management, a fitness center, a media and business center with computer stations, a clubroom with a kitchenette and game tables, a mailroom with package lockers, community washers and dryers, and a shaded outdoor pavilion with seating.

The building is certified under National Green Building Standards to help residents keep utility bills down, with Energy Star-rated appliances, low-flow plumbing fixtures, impact windows, and LED lighting. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2028.

Ekos at Rockledge Park is McDowell Housing Partners' 18th affordable housing project to start construction in Florida since 2019, and its first in Brevard County.
