New Turn Lanes and a Traffic Signal Coming to Stadium Parkway at Cuddington Drive
Brevard County Public Works began work October 19 on new left-turn lanes at Stadium Parkway and Cuddington Drive near Viera Elementary, with a traffic signal planned for 2027.
Drivers near Viera Elementary will see construction at the intersection of Stadium Parkway and Cuddington Drive over the next two months. Brevard County Public Works began the first phase of roadway improvements on Monday, October 19, adding new left-turn lanes in both directions along Stadium Parkway.
The first phase builds northbound and southbound left-turn lanes within the existing medians. The southbound lane on the north side of the intersection comes first, followed by the northbound lane on the south side. This phase is expected to finish in December 2026.
During construction, the crosswalk near the active work area will be closed, and pedestrians will be directed to the opposite crosswalk. No vehicle lane closures are expected, and milling and resurfacing will happen at night, outside school hours. The intersection will keep operating as a four-way stop once the new lanes are in.
The second phase brings the bigger change: traffic signals at the intersection. That work is expected to begin in April 2027 and finish before the 2027-2028 school year.
Brevard County worked with Brevard Public Schools on the project, which is aimed at improving visibility and safety for students and families traveling to and from Viera Elementary.
