Three local schools make the state's top tier

Three Viera-area schools earned the 2025-26 Florida Schools of Excellence designation from the Florida Department of Education: Viera High School, Viera Elementary School, and Suntree Elementary School. The Florida State Board of Education approved the 2025-26 designations on Oct. 14, 2026.

Under Section 1003.631, Florida Statutes, the designation goes to schools that rank at or above the 80th percentile in school-grade calculations among schools serving similar grade levels for at least two of the previous three years.

The local numbers

  • Viera Elementary School - A grade for 2026 with 82 points, ranking in the 97.7th percentile among elementary schools statewide. The school earned the designation for a third straight year.
  • Suntree Elementary School - A grade for 2026 with 78 points, in the 94.8th percentile among elementary schools statewide.
  • Viera High School - A grade for 2026 with 68 points, in the 71.6th percentile among high schools statewide. It was one of only two Brevard County high schools on the 2025-26 list.

All three schools kept A grades in each of the last three years.

A strong month for Brevard schools

The Schools of Excellence news follows Brevard Public Schools' Oct. 12 announcement that 53 of its schools earned more than $3.4 million through the Florida School Recognition Program for 2026-27, including 41 A-rated schools and 12 schools that improved a letter grade.
